hey buddy...TAKE a WALK

My daughter and I like to walk in warmer weather. We walk to the park or to one of the town squares, we walk to get italian ice, we walk to the pool, we walk on the beach we walk a lot. Some times on our walks we find little odds and ends such as flowers, buttons, coins, rocks, robins eggshells  etc.
Today I came up with a cute little idea. I made a small book out of various papers. Some lined for writing some blank for drawing. I stapled it together and decorated the cover.
Hence the first "take a walk" book was created. On the pages we will record what we see and find on our walk(s).

I will be making these in class next week if anyone wants to see how its done come on by Together in Motion, 1 Broadway, Arlington, Ma.

Opinions

I find it interesting and frustrating that art is always about matters of opinions. If the right people believe that your art is fantastic then it is if those same people dismiss it then its
not considered at all. I make my work for me  first. Its great if the people of the art world happen upon it and like it. However if that does not happen then so be it.

My friend and writer of www.embroideredleaf.com and brittanykay-birdsong.blogspot.com
Brittany Drennen brought this young artist to my attention. She seems to be enjoying her work for herself and collectors seem to value it just as much. If you read some of the comments below you get an idea of the small mindedness that often comes into play with abstract art.

In the colder darker months of the year I yearn for color and light. The idea of painting with light is very magical. The reality is a ton of fun. Check out this site of how to do it here. http://www.instructables.com/id/Painting-with-Light/

Color

As an artist I love color. This may seem like an obvious statement but what I really mean is as an artist I obsess over color. The right ones combined help to bring my works to life.

While browsing the web this morning I came across this link all about color. It talks about color being the key to weight loss, how color effects our emotions, how the medical industry uses color. Its worth a look.
