Its the process not the product.

Today in class my student's mother and I started to talk about how some parents when doing creative projects with their child tend to try to tell the child how to create the project. Please parents don't take this the wrong way. STOP DOING THIS!

Children will get  the most out of art if you just let them do what they want without any preconceived  notions from us adults who have seen what we think art should be.

"All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

Day 2 of art class

As an effort to promote my art class I decided to make todays class promotional.
Mostly this meant it was a free class.

I set up a table with trays and placed a sheet of paper in each tray. Then as an example I put some different colored paints on one of the pieces of paper, next I placed marbles on the tray and tilted the tray up and down and around so that the marbles would roll through the paints I ended up with a very pretty painting. It reminded me of the artist Jackson Pollock.

We had fun painting with marbles. While my students mom rolled her marbles across the paper through different colored paints by tilting the tray her paper was on, my student preferred to pick the marble up and push it through the paint across her paper. Both paintings look great and were equally fun to create.
